Earlier this week, I sat at my computer and wondered what I would or could write next for UFO Digest. Every time I feel that I have nothing left to write about, the Lord tells me differently. The Holy Spirit whispered in my ear Lilith and UFOs. I know this may seem a little strange to some of you, but I really do not write anything unless the Lord tells me to do so and then tells what to write about. For most of my adult life, I wrote what I wanted to write about and it got me nowhere but messed up. This time, though, I was a little hesitant not only because I was not sure where this would go but also because I can barely see at this time. My MS has flared up and I am now burdened at this time with blurred vision, double vision, vertigo and increased weakness along with my persistent inability to walk easily. Thank god I now have Jesus to hold onto I tried to envision, no pun intended, how I could talk about Lilith and UFOs in one article. I knew of both individually but together?
Then on Wednesday, I read Mary Alice Bennett's article on UFOs over Tucson in UFO Digest and I began to see the connection. Mary spoke of 22nd and Alvernon, Reid Park and other places in Tucson that I knew well because I had been a Professor there at the University of Arizona for many years. Then she spoke of a recently departed friend Dana Redfield. a UFO author, who LSO had been interested in Kabbalah, and bingo, I had my connection. Who did I know that also combined an interest in UFOs with an interest in Jewish mysticism (Kabbalah) and particularly in the archetype Lilith? The answer was obviously me. God wanted me to discuss this relationship because I had a unique and intimate past knowledge of both coupled now with the addition of the Holy Spirit and my discovery of the true meaning of life and of death from my revelation of Jesus Christ.
While I was a Professor at the University of Arizona in Tucson thirty years ago, I had maintained my lifelong interest in UFOs. I visited a UFO group there that said that they seven were affiliated with J.Allen Hynek. I also wrote a novel, "The Other World", that was a Gnostic journey into the unconscious, actually the collective unconscious, of all mankind which included Adam, Eve, Lilith and Samael. This bounced around New York for years but was never picked up (thank God). I did read from it at a loft in Greenwich Village to a bunch of "creative artists" like me though. I thought that was really cool at the time. Several years later I wrote an article "Adam: Male, Female or Both" which was published by Anima, a feminist, New Age publication. I spoke not only of what I thought was the androgynous nature of Adam in the Bible but also of the supposed androgynous nature of God. I also spoke in detail of Lilith. One of my Christian grad students nearly had a cow when I talked about it in class. I loved to watch her squirm.
I also taught a grad course "Alternate Conceptions of Reality". I was truly New Age before it was fashionable to be New Age!
Years later, when I worked for the Jewish National Fund and the Jewish Federation of Phoenix, I read the Zohar, the bible of Jewish mysticism, and discussed Kabbalah with several Rabbis in town. I even channeled drawings from the yenne velt (the other world in Yiddish) and showed them to my Rabbi friends who loved them. Several were later published in the journal DreamWorks.
I also encountered several women who were Lilith archetypes and seduced me with their wicked ways. Been there and done all of the above. Who better to tell you about the dangers of Lilith and UFOs?
Mary Alice Bennett as well as Dr.Barbara Young have written extensively about Mary Magdelene and the Divine and the so called Divine Feminine. Ms.Bennett tried to argue that Jesus was called Rabbi so he must have been married. This is of course false. He was called Raboni which just means teacher and has no necessity of marriage. Dr. Young argued similarly to try and show that Jesus married Mary Magdelene and had children which of course is not only preposterous but also has no historical or better yet religious validity. He was pure and without sin, not a mortal husband and father. If Jesus did not die on the cross and was not resurrected on third day, then we are all lost forever in our sins with no hope of eternal life. No crucified, resurrected Jesus, no eternal life for us.
While there are strands of this goddess motif running through parts of Judaism influenced by Sumerian and Babylonian influences, they are by no means all positive. Read Hebrew Myths by Robert Graves and Raphael Patai and The Hebrew Goddess by Raphael Patai. Sure there is the Matronit, the supposed wife of God and the Shekinah, the Sabbath Queen, but there is also the Queen of the Damned, the great temptress, Lilith.
Lilith is first mentioned in the Book of Isaiah in 34:14 where she is called the night demon. This was written around 700 BC. Around five hundred years later, she is mentioned in the Dead Sea Scroll Songs of the Sages. The Talmud of 400 AD mentions her several times. The Zohar, the so called bible of Jewish mysticism, written around 1200 AD, also mentions her several times. But is the mystical Midrash, Alpha Ben Sira, written around 800 AD that gives the best description of her origin.
According to the Alpha Ben Sira, Lilith was the first woman created separately just like Adam but unlike Adam she was created from filth and sewage not clean dirt. Adam mated with this demoness and from that union sprang innumerable demons that still plague mankind to this very day. Lilith did not want to be subservient to Adam. She even did not want to lie beneath him in lovemaking. She is the quintessential feminist archetype. She fled and flew away.
Adam complained to God and God sent three angels, Senoy, Sansenoy and Samangelof to bring her back. They found her at the Red Sea bearing one hundred demons a day.
They begged her to return to Adam or they would destroy her but Lilith refused. She told them that God had ordered her to take charge of newborn children, boys until their eight day and circumcision and girls until their 20th day. Lilith told them that if she saw their three names on an amulet she would spare the children. Thus Jewish women and even some newborns to this very day wear an amulet with these names to protect their children from the evil eye of Lilith.
Lilith was not only the killer of newborn children but was also the great temptress of men. She was a succubus that attached itself to unsuspecting men and caused them to err. She was also thought to the cause of nocturnal emissions in men. God had then created a helpmate for Adam, Eve from his own side. We thus had Adam and Eve juxtapositioned alongside Lilith and Samael (A Satanic entity). Many an incantation bowl read "Adam and Eve out Lilith!"
There are many representations of Lilith in Western Art and literature. The attached picture is of the West Facade of Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris built around 1210 AD. It depicts Adam and Eve at the Tree of Good and Evil in the Garden tempted by Lilith in the center as the snake that seduced them.
Lilith is also referenced in Milton's Paradise Lost of 1667, Goethe's Faust of 1808, Robert Browning's poem: Adam, Lilith and Eve of 1883 and even Aleister Crowley's De Arte Magica".
Lilith has always been the supreme archetype of the independent cunning temptress. While many feminist groups, especially Jewish ones, have adopted her as their archetype, I find that rather puzzling as I do when lesbian groups adopt her as well. She was and still is not a favorable role model. She is the ultimate temptress, succubus, who attaches her evil self to men to lead them astray. She kills newborn children. Hardly a Queen of Heaven as many have said, and hardly the Divine Female archetype that many attest. And most certainly she is the not the Queen of Heaven who arrived here on a UFO to better mankind. When her name is mentioned on various UFO and paranormal websites in connection with unexplained phenomena beware. As I have written before, Lilith is a demonic archetype which in my mind understandably, is mentioned along with other demonic influences like fallen angels. aka aliens, but this is nothing to brag about. Both are attempts to lead people astray and keep them from the knowledge of the saving grace that only Jesus Christ can bring.
I have studied Lilith, written about her, taught about her, and even been involved with women with that same spirit. That time in my life I was led astray from the real truth. When I got saved, I burned my manuscript of "The Other World" and all of my channeled drawings. When these same succubae try to take control over me now, I rebuke them in the name of Jesus and they flee. This also works to prevent "alien abductions". Extraterrestrial fallen angels flee at the name of Jesus as does Lilith and all of her demonic cohorts.
