I highly respect Dr. Stephen Yulish's work and his observations of the scriptures and I believe the bible as much as he does. The last book of Revelation tells us that it is going to happen just as Stephen states in his article "Will the Earth burn up in 2012?", but that is not the complete story.
As we read the book of revelation it makes some points quite clear, which I will reveal here. The Revised Standard Version, as well as the Good News New Testament tells us what will happen, which both state facts of the "end of the world." Let us look at what the bible says:
A Rev 21 verse 1-27 tells us that the kingdom of God will be right here on earth. Yes the first earth will pass away, but a new heaven and a new earth will be in its place. Also, the New Jerusalem was coming down out of heaven from God.
Verse 3 tells us:
"The dwelling of God is with men. He will dwell with them, and they shall be his people and God himself will be with them."
Verse 10 tells us:
"and in the spirit he carried me away to a great high mountain and showed me the holy city of Jerusalem coming down from heaven from God."
If you read the rest of the revelation it states it had high walls and 12 gates and on the gates the names of the 12 tribes of the sons of Israel on them. On the foundations of the walls had the names of the 12 apostles of the lamb.
Chapter 15 it gives the physical length and height of the walls. It also tells us what the walls are made of. However, there was no temple in the city, why? For the lord God almighty and the Lamb were there. The river of the water of life flows from the throne of God and of the Lamb. The city needs no sun or moon, for the glory of God is its light and its lamp is the light. A river flows through the middle of the street of the city. It also tells of the trees and its fruit.
Chapter 22 goes on to tell us in verse 16:
"I, Jesus have sent my angel to you with this testimony for the churches. I am the root and the offspring of David, the bright morning star."
Verse 18-21 of the last chapter 22, tells us the following:
"I warn everyone who hears the words of the prophecy of this book if nay one adds to them, God will add to him the plaques described in this book, and if anyone who takes away from the words of this book of this prophecy, God will take away his share of the tree of life and in the holy city which are described in this book."
Verse 20:
"He who testifies of these things says "Surely I am coming soon."
Amen, come Lord Jesus! (Maranatha is the same exclamation that many Christians use)
21 The end of the book of Rev states:
"The Grace (un of the deserved kindness) of The Lord Jesus be with all the saints." Amen.
The last verse of the bible is also stated in 2 Thes chapter 3 verse 18:
"The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all."
So the words of the Holy Scriptures tell us what? There will be a new city right here on Earth with a river, walls and the rule of God on earth and of his Christ to reign over the city of God forever and ever. Most of you read the Lord's Prayer, but did you ever really know what you were saying? Think of it, and know it is true, for God's word is truth. The Lord's Prayer that everyone prays is:
"Our Father who is in Heaven Hallowed be your name, your Kingdom come, your will be done on earth as it is in Heaven."
That is exactly what Rev tells us. Maranatha Lord Jesus we need you and we pray as Jesus prayed: For YAHWEHS REIGN ON PARADISE EARTH FOREVER!
That is the hope of all who were slain for belief in the LAMB OF GOD. Believe it, or not. I hope to be on the side of HIM who came from GOD ALMIGHTY! Do You?
