I was a UFO investigator for APRO and also for CAPER. The summer and fall of 1967 was a busy year for me. There were about 4-5 cases a week all summer long and into the winter that lasted until about August of 1968.
Sightings by Police, State Troopers, sightings by private residents and by harbor masters. I kept Ray Fowler busy and the local police kept me busy. It seemed like a never-ending wave of sightings that would go up and down the Merrimac River and also over local cemeteries!
People, The local newspaper, and police from several towns would call me every week. It seemed like we were being invaded by a mysterious multiple, enigmatic and diverse deluge of machines of various size and configurations.
From saucer shapes, triangles, wedges with pulsating lights, and even vegetation being squashed in fields and even in and among trees. A few times there were even entities that were seen, which were Varied in sizes and shapes. Some that was outside of the craft and some that were seen inside of the craft.
The ones in the craft were seen by a local harbormaster. When they turned their head to look at him he saw, an "antenna". He saw the antenna on some type of "helmet" as the craft hovered over his piper cub airport. He even tried to wave them down before he saw "them."
In the same town, Haverhill Mass, not far from the river there was a cemetery. In this cemetery at night some boys saw a small creature walking between the graves. It was about 9-10 pm and as they walked by the cemetery they saw a "little man dressed in a glowing green suit weaving through the grave site." They ran to the police station. The police sent a car to the cemetery to check it out.
When the car got there the police saw nothing from the car but they got out with their flashlight and walked together to see if any thing was there. As they flashed their lights here and there, one officer noticed a green figure about 3-4 foot tall stand up and run. The other officer swung his flashlight and saw the "green child" running between the graves! They then, the police, got the hell out of there!
I got the report the next day. I told them to rope off the area and I would be up at about 6 pm. When I got there and went to the police station the officers were called to come in to the station. So they did.
I brought my camera, my forms, a plastic container and a large metal spoon. They took me to the cemetery. As it was still light we walked to the roped in area. I asked the officers to stay out and just point to the spot where they saw the "creature".
So as we skirted the area and got near the "alleged" area. I asked them exactly where they saw the little green glowing guy run. They pointed to the area. I told them to walk in back of me as I went in to take pictures and soil samples.
As they directed me I took pictures of a three toed print about 3" long, spaced about 5" apart. It was not a human print.
It went on for about 50 yards before I lost it when it went in the area of the trees. Did it jump? I do not know.
There was no broken branches or broken anything. The tracks just disappeared. I took several pictures and even took some soil samples never touching the evidence. Then I took the officers statements.
I asked them if they had the boy's names and addresses, which they said they did. When we got back to the station, they asked the boys to come in to answer some questions. They came down and in the station verified the information separately from each other. It confirmed what the officers saw but with one detail they did not tell the officers. The creature seemed to jump onto some of the tombstones and hop to another then run again! Now that was something the officers did not see. So I took their statements and thanked them and the officers. I asked the officers if they ever saw the "creature hop?" They said, "No, why?" I told them the boys did and each had separately made a statement to the same thing!
I went home pondering what "it "was. I packed up the evidence very well and sent the package along with the interviews of the boys and the police to APRO. Funny thing though I never got any info back from them. So I called them about 3 weeks later and asked if they saw the package. They had not! I was very consternated about that. But the sightings up and down the river continued.
Two to three times a week they were seen at the jetties near the entrance to the river with red, white lights, blue and green lights, all going up or down the river! At one time the Newburyport Police saw a silent object come in from the ocean (others saw the same object) and silently fly up the river and rise above the moderately high bridge that separated Newburyport Mass from Salisbury Mass. It traveled up the river to Amesbury Mass (as seen by other witnesses) to Merrimac Mass (over the river) and followed the whole river right up to Haverhill Mass and passed the airport where one night about a month or so later the alleged sighting by the harbormaster saw the entities! Some thing like that makes you wonder.
But then again if you lived the Salisbury, Newburyport, Haverhill Mass area, you had to go to Haverhill to get your license plate. As in Ramona Clarks article. There was a break in and "some one was stealing license plates from that office."
